Hey, There’s People Out There!
Okay, well… it’s been a while. A very long while. That’s probably the biggest understatement I’ve made in quite some time.
So what the hell happened?
Well, partly, I was stuck on how exactly to advance the current plot in a way that I liked; that, I sorta solved and have it down to a point where I actually am happy with it (thus why I’m able to chug things along now).
The other, less fun aspect is that life decided to be an utter jackass to me in 2015.
My dog, Lucy, was sick for a long while, and taking care of her took up a lot of time; she finally passed in late August. But, she was 12, and had had medical problems since she was a puppy, so really she lived much, much longer than the vets ever expected her to (she had a small daily regimen of pills to take for things like allergies, intestinal problems, a too-small liver, etc. – she was happy, just pilled up).
Pretty much right after Lucy passed, my mother also started having problems with her heart. In the span of a month, she was in and out of the hospital 3 times. While the doctors have basically gotten things down to manageable levels, and she’s able to move around more, she’s still not in great shape; in fact, she just drove for the first time in four months yesterday.
There were a few other health & life hiccups here and there that just kept adding up which made updating, and often even thinking about updating, impossible.
It hasn’t been all terrible, however: I got to attend the Ottawa International Film Festival with Cinevore Studios while Matt & Stephanie met with studio & television reps; I got to man my first Artist Alley table at Otakon (and I’m going back this year specifically as Bricktown – more on that later!); and I’ve got a few personal projects finally come to pass which I’ll be unleashing to the world soon hopefully.
I’ve also had some client-projects come up that ate up my time (which were pleasant respites from the other problems), which put me off even further.
Now, thankfully, the worst seems to have passed, and I can get some semblance of stability in my life; which means a fairly regular update schedule (yay!).
Here’s to a happy tomorrow!
